Come See Our Chiropractor in Shubenacadie for Quality Chiropractic Care & Orthotics
Chiropractic care is a hands-on, non-invasive, drug-free practice that safely and effectively relieves pain and improves the body’s overall function. Chiropractors are primary health care professionals that diagnose and treat problems associated with your muscles, joints, and nervous system. They use various treatments depending on your needs, from manual hands-on adjusting techniques to soft tissue therapy.
Chiropractors are well known for treating low back and neck pain, but that is just a fraction of what they can treat. On a typical day in our office, Dr. McCoul also works on knees, shoulder pain, hip pain, carpal tunnel, and headaches.

What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Visit
First off, welcome to our clinic! At East Hants Chiropractic Clinic, we want you to feel perfectly relaxed, at home and as comfortable as possible. If there is any way we can make your first visit or follow-ups better, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Prior to your initial visit, you will receive an email with an intake form to complete regarding any injuries and personal healthcare needs. The chiropractor will ask additional questions about your health and then will perform a physical examination, which may include:
Postural Assessment
Gait
Range of Motion
Extremity Test
Orthopedic Tests
Neurological Tests
Chiropractic Spinal Exam
In some instances, he may refer you for X-rays if your particular problem requires further attention. Dr. McCoul will develop a treatment plan specific to your needs based on your history, physical examination, and diagnosis.
We take a whole-body approach to treatment. In short, we assess you from head to toe because different parts of the body affect others in unexpected ways. To truly determine the source or cause of your problem, we have to account for the variation in movement throughout your body.
When it comes to treatment, we use a variety of options to suit your individual needs. No two patients are alike, as are no two treatment plans. Dr. McCoul can also fit you for custom orthotics to help correct your specific foot and body imbalance if your feet could be part of your problem.
Care Recommendations
Once your patient history and examination have been reviewed, Dr. McCoul will give you a report of his findings and explain your condition (or conditions). If Dr. McCoul feels he can help, and you think his diagnosis and treatment plan make sense, then a treatment plan will be provided to you, typically on the second visit. By explaining the details of your treatment plan in advance, there will never be any surprises during your follow-up appointments.
Custom Foot Orthotics
Even the smallest imbalance in your feet can cause pain and dysfunction throughout your entire body. Properly fitted prescription orthotics help restore normal balance and alignment of your body and bring relief from fatigue and pain.
Custom foot orthotics are devices designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look like insoles but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom-made to correct your specific foot imbalance.
Custom orthotics work on your feet much like glasses work on your eyes-they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. They help to re-align the foot by redirecting and reducing certain motion that takes place during the gait cycle. Custom orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as insoles - with the advantage of having been made from precise imprints of your feet.
Dr. McCoul can fit you for custom orthotics to help correct your specific foot and body imbalance if your feet could be part of your problem. Some of the symptoms poor foot mechanics can cause are:
-
Localized foot pain
-
Bunions, hammer toes
-
Arch/heel pain
-
Leg/knee pain
-
Hip or back pain – even neck pain
(Please note: Although we can do direct billing for most of our services, we cannot direct bill for custom foot orthotics. A medical doctor's prescription may also be required in order for your insurance to cover the fee. Please check your plan).
